Stewards adopt a park they love and help coordinate a restoration project there. Our Stewards are community leaders and our most dedicated volunteers. No experience is necessary; training, materials, and support from staff are provided.
Restoration Volunteers get involved at work parties by removing aggressive invasive weeds, planting native trees and shrubs, mulching, watering, building trails, and helping to ensure that our natural areas stay healthy. Our volunteers make it all happen – join in!
Sponsors are critical to the success of the Green Kirkland Partnership. If your business would like to be a part of this amazing effort, please contact us! There are many ways to help including funding a key piece of the Partnership, making in-kind donations and bringing employees out to volunteer at a work party.
Outreach Supporters help get the word out. If you have contacts at a local media outlet, would be willing to write a letter to your local paper or contact your elected officials, or want to help create or distribute outreach materials, we need you!
Interns help with specific projects, usually in our office. Take a look at Forterra’s intern listings to see if a position is open.
About the Green Kirkland Partnership
The City of Kirkland has a considerable wealth of forested parklands, most of which are maintained as natural areas for wildlife habitat and passive recreation. These parks and greenbelts strengthen local neighborhoods, improve property values, and make communities attractive places to live.
The City of Kirkland and Forterra launched the Green Kirkland Partnership in an effort to tackle the growing invasive species problem and promote community stewardship.
In order to educate youth groups, Kirkland has initiated a summer youth training program known as the Kirkland Youth Employment Program. This program is designed to educate middle school and high school students about resource management, leadership skills, volunteer management, and provide job skills and career development training.
